Swirl Secures $1.1M in Seed Funding to Expand Video Commerce Globally


Swirl, a video commerce platform founded in 2021 by Kaizad Hansotia and Bheshaj Joshi, has identified a significant gap in the e-commerce landscape: despite the surge in online shopping, a vast majority of visitors to e-commerce sites leave without completing a purchase. Recognizing live commerce as the missing link between digital and physical shopping experiences, Swirl aims to inject a human touch into online shopping.


With ambitions to broaden its global footprint, Swirl has successfully raised $1.1 million in seed funding through a round led by Shastra VC (formerly Veda VC). This investment will not only fuel the company's international expansion but also bolster its product offerings, particularly through the integration of advanced AI for extracting contextual insights from videos.


The seed funding round witnessed participation from a diverse group of angel investors, including prominent figures such as Aakrit Vaish (CEO of Haptik), Shan Krishnasamy (Former CTO of Freshworks), Mohammed Dewji (CEO of MeTL), and many others from India, the Middle East, and the USA.


Founder & CEO Kaizad Hansotia emphasizes Swirl's strategic focus on harnessing AI to revolutionize video commerce. By leveraging AI-driven analysis of video context metadata and employing large language models (LLMs), the platform aims to deliver personalized shopping experiences that drive sales and enhance search engine optimization (SEO) through increased organic traffic.


Moreover, Swirl plans to utilize video context metadata to train a 24/7 chatbot embedded within the video, offering real-time product recommendations and enticing users with add-ons and bundle offers. The platform has already forged partnerships with leading brands such as Puma, VIVO, and Arvind Brands.
