Ghost Kitchens India Cooks Up Success with $5 Million Series A Funding

Food tech platform Ghost Kitchens India has secured $5 million in its Series A funding round, comprising a combination of equity and debt. The round was led by GVFL Limited, with participation from NB Ventures, LetsVenture, and Lead Angels. Existing investors Yuj Ventures, Dholakia Ventures, and actor Rana Daggubati also joined the round.

The company plans to utilize the funds to expand its business operations and enter the retail stores of its existing flagship brands and new celebrity-endorsed brands. It also aims to enhance its partner program, expand its network of company-owned and operated cloud kitchens and QSR stores, and upgrade its technology platform to monitor sales and operational metrics for organic growth.

Founded by Karan Tanna, Ghost Kitchens offers cloud kitchen brands designed to boost revenue and profitability by introducing a plug-and-play food delivery concept. The platform helps maximize incremental sales and improve margins, offering affordable, low-risk expansion opportunities for food businesses. Currently, Ghost Kitchens operates 15 company-owned and operated cloud kitchens in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, along with 12,00 internet restaurants across 40 cities in India.

The startup aims to achieve profitability within the next 12-15 months by focusing on its flagship brands and new celebrity brand partnerships. In February 2023, Ghost Kitchens India acquired SpeakBurgers by celebrity Chef Vicky Ratnani and plans to expand this partnership to 25 offline retail stores over the next 18-24 months. Additionally, in 2022, Ghost Kitchens India acquired technology company WTF, which helped the company develop its proprietary technology for end-to-end business management.
