Azimuth AI Secures Seed Funding for Sustainable and Affordable SoCs

Custom silicon product startup Azimuth AI, founded in 2022 by Praveen Yasarapu and Sridevi Badiga, has secured seed funding from AUM Ventures, a VC firm focused on Indian startups. The undisclosed amount will be used to develop Azimuth's first-ever system on chip (SoC) for a leading smart city solutions manufacturer.

This innovative SoC promises significant performance improvements, increased features, and better efficiency compared to existing solutions. Led by Praveen Yasarapu and Sridevi Badiga, Azimuth AI prioritizes creating eco-friendly and affordable SoCs, particularly for cost-sensitive markets.

Their focus is on developing purpose-built SoCs for various applications, including smart cities, electric vehicles, and edge computing. "We aim to develop SoCs that are not only sustainable but also make computing solutions accessible in cost-challenged markets," said Yasarapu.

Azimuth boasts a proven track record with over 30 silicon products delivered and collaborations with leading Silicon Valley semiconductor companies. Their team, with a combined 100 years of experience, operates from California, USA, and Hyderabad, India. This investment highlights AUM Ventures' commitment to fostering innovation. Launched in 2022, their first VC fund targets Indian startups and aims to connect them with the UAE market.

"India's Semiconductor industry is poised for rapid growth," said Chetan Mehta, Founding Partner at AUM Ventures. "Custom silicon chips offer a revolutionary approach to creating specialized solutions."

This investment aligns with India's growing semiconductor ecosystem, fueled by government initiatives supporting chip manufacturers, design companies, and packaging firms. The recent approval for India's first semiconductor fab by the Tata Group further emphasizes the sector's rising interest and investment.
