Amwoodo Secures $1 Million Investment from Zerodha-Backed Rainmatter to Fuel Bamboo Revolution

Amwoodo, a pioneering bamboo products manufacturer, has announced a significant milestone with the successful closure of a $1 million funding round led by Rainmatter, a venture fund backed by Zerodha.

This infusion of capital is earmarked for strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the company's manufacturing capabilities, empowering artisans through upskilling programs, and driving expansion efforts to capitalize on burgeoning market opportunities.


Established in 2019, Amwoodo has carved a niche for itself in the sustainable goods sector, specializing in the production of a diverse range of bamboo items including combs, toothbrushes, razors, slippers, compostable sanitary bags, and towels. With a commitment to ethical sourcing practices, the company directly engages with approximately 400 bamboo farmers in the northeast region of India and collaborates with a network of 380 skilled artisans. The final refinement and quality assurance processes take place at its state-of-the-art facilities located in Howrah, Kolkata, ensuring adherence to stringent export standards.


Operating across both the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) segments, Amwoodo boasts an impressive roster of clients, including renowned hospitality chains such as Taj Hotels and The Leela, as well as direct-to-consumer brands like Himalaya, Man Company, Nat Habit, and Kimirica.


The company's unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation has been reflected in its financial performance, with reported sales of Rs 21.72 crore in the previous fiscal year. Buoyed by this momentum, Amwoodo has set ambitious targets for the current financial year, aiming to achieve sales figures of approximately Rs 60 crore.
